SUMMARY:The Trial\, by Franz Kafka
DESCRIPTION:Josef K. wakes up one morning and there are two men in his bedroom. They know his name. They will not say what he did. They tell him he is under arrest\, spend ten minutes talking to each other about moisture and mice\, and then suggest he go on in to work. \nNobody in this play gets an answer. Not from the court\, which never convenes. Not from the lawyer\, who cannot help. Not from the clerk\, who is genuinely sorry and is not permitted to say why. \nThe first people to hear it thought it was funny. Max Brod\, who published the novel after Kafka’s death\, wrote that when Kafka read the opening chapter aloud to his friends\, everybody laughed\, Kafka included\, so hard that there were moments when he could not read any further. Productions since have mostly gone the other way\, into dread and nightmare. This one goes back to the room where everybody was laughing. \nFive actors play twenty-five parts. In a court where nobody identifies themselves and the judge is never present\, the faces keep changing. \nIt is done in Savage Wonder’s flash to bang style: rehearsed the day of and up that night\, fully staged and ambitiously blocked\, with no props\, no costumes\, and actors on book. Every performance is different. None of them are safe. \nAdapted from the German and directed by Founding Artistic Director Christopher Paul Meyer. Casting by Jenn Haltman. Produced in accordance with Actors’ Equity Association. \nBites & Cocktails\nYour ticket includes curated food and cocktails crafted by The Grape Rebellion.\n \nFeaturing\,\nAna Anderson*\, Dylan Crow*\, Patrick Harvey*\, Mike Labaddia*\, & Viet Vo* \n*Denotes a member of Actor’s Equity\nThe Trial · Instructions\nYour ticket is all-inclusive & begins at 6PM. \nDoors open on time. The proceedings begin on time. \nSeating is limited and arranged as part of the performance environment. \nAll performances have limited capacity and may sell out. Tickets may be released through the waitlist as available. Walk-ins are welcome to inquire; seating is not guaranteed.

SUMMARY:The Prestige Dinner
DESCRIPTION:The art of dining. The art of deception. \nA seated four-course dinner with wine\, and two magicians working the room between the courses. \nHere is how the night runs. You sit down\, you order a drink\, and before the first course arrives both magicians are already on the floor doing close-up work\, two to five people at a time. They each take half the room. Partway through the night they switch sides\, so every table gets both of them. Twice during dinner one of them takes the stage for ten minutes while you eat. After dessert they come back out together for a finale neither one performs alone. \nThen there is applause\, and photographs\, and nobody leaves for a while. \nSeating at 7:00 PM.\n141 Main Street\, Beacon\, New York. \nSavage Wonder is a veteran-led arts center in Beacon\, New York. A gallery\, a theater\, a wine and dessert bar\, and a Friday night that got away from us in the best possible direction.

SUMMARY:New to the City\, with Benjamin Hightower
DESCRIPTION:Savage Wonder presents an evening of live music and storytelling. \nTonight\,\nNew to the City is a collection of songs and stories about Benjamin Hightower’s first year in New York City\, having just left the military and come out of the closet. Drawing from his experiences with identity\, faith\, love\, and starting over\, Benjamin brings lyrical storytelling\, piano rock\, and soaring vocals together for a deeply personal performance. \nFeaturing\,\nJayne Sugg\, Opening Act\nBenjamin Hightower\, Main Act \nAbout Benjamin Hightower\,\nBenjamin Hightower is a U.S. Air Force veteran and Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter. After separating from the Air Force following seven years of active-duty service\, he captivated millions with his breakout performance of “Pink Pony Club” on America’s Got Talent. \nHis experiences deeply inform his music\, from attending conversion therapy through his church for being gay to serving more than 10 years in the military. His songs explore identity\, faith\, love\, and mental health\, particularly for fellow veterans and LGBTQ+ individuals. \nIn 2026\, Benjamin steps into a new era with his forthcoming debut EP\, a collection exploring his self-discovery after leaving the military\, coming out of the closet\, and moving to New York City. His sound draws from church music and theater while embracing lush pop and piano rock\, with musical influences including Elton John\, Ben Folds\, and Rufus Wainwright.

SUMMARY:THE TELL-TALE HEART: A Savage Soirée
DESCRIPTION:A cocktail party\, a costume party and a masquerade ball\, all on the night before Halloween. \nPoe’s story is two thousand words long. A man kills an old man because he does not like the look of his eye\, hides him under the floorboards\, and then sits down with the police and listens to the noise coming up through the wood. For one night the whole downstairs becomes that room. \nLive performers work the floor instead of a stage. Two cocktails are made for the evening and served on no other. Nobody sits down and nothing gets announced. You are standing three feet from the thing happening\, holding a drink. \nMasks and costume expected. Doors at 7:30\, and the room is worth arriving early for. \nSomething under the floor is keeping time.

SUMMARY:Life is Small
DESCRIPTION:Sonny Duluth sells watches at the mall. He has not seen his son in seven years. \nThe reunion happens in a public park\, a week before Christmas\, in eighty degrees\, with a strand of colored lights sagging over the parking lot. The son is bleeding. He is sitting in his own truck and a plumber has the keys and will not give them back\, because the plumber’s wife says she saw him do something obscene where children were playing. The son says it was not like that. A police officer arrives with law school flashcards in her hand and a con law final at eight o’clock\, and no patience for any of them. \nSonny has one afternoon and nothing to bargain with. What he has is a father’s heart and a habit of talking\, and neither one is going to be enough. \nLife Is Small is a dark comedy by Douglas Gearhart\, who served three tours in Iraq as an enlisted Soldier. It is not a war play. It is a play about masculinity\, shame\, and what people will do to avoid calling a thing by its name. It is very funny\, and it does not let you off. \nFour actors. Three Saturdays. A room where the actors are ten feet away and nobody can look at their phone. \nDirected by Christopher Paul Meyer\nCasting by Jenn Haltman\nTech Direction by Joshua K Boniello \nAdults only\, 17+. Strong language and adult subject matter throughout\, including an accusation of a public sexual act. Nothing is depicted onstage and no child appears. \nLife Is Small · Instructions \n• Your ticket is all-inclusive and includes food and cocktails.\n• Doors open on time.
