SUMMARY:LIVE: Only A Game
DESCRIPTION:It’s THE GOONIES meets THE SHINING. It’s a rom-com filled with ghosts. It’s a spooky escape room adventure.\nIt’s ONLY A GAME!\nCome to a live production of the latest thriller by local author Sam Rebelein (“A major new talent!” – R.L. Stine)\, a year before the book hits shelves! Read by a full cast of actors\, we’ll be fixing typos\, patching plot holes\, and more\, as we read through the entire book together. It will take us FIVE evenings to read through it\, and people who attend all five shows will recieve a special prize. We’ll have exclusive merch\, books available for purchase\, and maybe a ghost or two.\nFeaturing\,\nSam Rebelein\nKristin Battersby\nVin Craig\nMichael Rinere\nThink of this as a serial radio play. Bring your knitting\, your coloring books–whatever helps you follow along. We’ll have the manuscript projected behind us\, so maybe you can catch a typo\, too! Just remember: no matter how scary it gets\, it’s only a game…or is it?\nAbout Sam and the Crew!\nSam Rebelein writes and teaches in Poughkeepsie\, NY. His short fiction has appeared in PseudoPod\, The Deadlands\, Press Pause Press\, Ellen Datlow’s prestigious Best Horror of the Year\, and elsewhere. His debut novel EDENVILLE was nominated for a Bram Stoker Award\, and won the Wonderland Book Award for Best Novel. His first collection of interconnected short fiction\, THE POORLY MADE AND OTHER THINGS\, and his recent novel GALLOWAY’S GOSPEL\, are all set in the same fictional upstate New York county as EDENVILLE. All three books are available now from HarperCollins/William Morrow. For more about Sam’s work\, and pictures of his scruffy pooch Frodo\, follow him on Instagram @rebelsam94.\nKristin Battersby\, Michael Rinere\, and Vin Craig are all local actors living in Beacon. They’ve helped Sam read through and copyedit his last three books\, and will probably be helping with many more to come. To see them in action\, check out their podcast Dungeons In The Attic\, wherever podcasts are streamed.

SUMMARY:Hillbilly Hootenanny @ Savage Wonder
DESCRIPTION:What do you get when a hillbilly master of ceremonies\, an emotionally fragile musician\, and a West Virginia-born comic share the same stage?\nA Hillbilly Hootenanny.\nIn this original one-man show\, Jeremy Plyburn performs multiple characters\, blends live music with sketch video\, and delivers stand-up comedy rooted in the strange poetry of growing up in Appalachia. The evening begins in chaos — a host who may be spiritually unqualified\, a hooch-stealing Gopher\, a music act like you have never seen — and slowly unfolds into sharp\, funny\, deeply human stories about family\, faith\, small towns\, and the “hillbilly logic” that never quite leaves you.\nPart theater. Part stand-up. Part bluegrass revival.\nThis is a comedy show that builds toward something bigger — loud\, honest\, and unexpectedly heartfelt.

SUMMARY:Turkish Delight presented by Hit House Creative
DESCRIPTION:Istanbul\, 1953. Three young Americans. A nurse\, a former reporter\, and a new mother that carries a secret. Loyalty\, patriotism\, truth\, parenting\, grief\, deceit\, and the resilience of the human spirit. This is an extraordinary love story.\nWritten & Performed by Jeannie Zusy & Directed by Lee Brock \nPresented by Hit House Creative\n \nJeannie Zusy created Turkish Delight as an artist in residency at The Barrow Group\, NYC\, working with Artistic Director/ director Lee Brock. Her novel The Frederick Sisters Are Living the Dream\, published by Simon & Schuster/Atria Books\, was called a “powerful debut” by Publishers Weekly\, and chosen as a Best Book of the Year by Real Simple. She is currently adapting it for the screen with Oscar-winning director Eric Simonson. Her plays\, essays\, and poems have been published in McSweeney’s\, Today\, Purple Clover\, and the Best Plays by Women collection\, Smith & Kraus. She and her husband artist John Cote are currently collaborating on a children’s book. She acted off-Broadway in several productions including her own short plays.\n  \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\nHit House Creative was founded with the mission to create and connect community through the experience of theatre and film programming. Since formally launching in 2022 the company has offered a consistent range of theatrical and film programming at local venues such as The Beacon\, The Howland Cultural Center\, The Yard\, and Safe Harbors of the Hudson. With the aim to provide space for playwrights to hear their work in a performative way – key for dramatists- Hit House formally launched their performed play reading series in November of 2024. Hit House served as co-producer with Safe Harbors of the Hudson to bring the first-ever Newburgh Fringe Festival in October of 2025.\n\nAfter you arrive at 141 Main St\, venture below the sidewalk to “Savage Wonderground” and prepare to be greeted by our delightfully caffeinated crew as we usher you into our theatrical nest.\n*There is no seating chart. There are only 25 seats. Every seat is a great seat!

SUMMARY:Tartuffe\, Adapted by Richard Wilbur
DESCRIPTION:Descend into Savage Wonder\nTransformed into a shadowy French salon where candlelight flickers\, secrets fester\, and elegance masks danger. \nIn our intoxicating salon\, a wealthy family\, a clever wife\, and the dangerously beguiling Tartuffe spiral together in a web of manipulation\, seduction\, and betrayal. \nSavage Wonder’s Equity reading transforms this classic satire into an intimate\, electric night where the performers become both puppet and puppeteer—and deception dances in every shadow. \nFeaturing\nAna Anderson*\, Ephraim Birney*\, Steve Epp*\, Cian Genaro\, Sophie Kelly-Hedrick*\, LeeAnne Hutchison*\, John Little*\, & Buzz Roddy* \n*Denotes a member of Actors’ Equity Association. \nMolière’s Tartuffe\, adapted by veteran Richard Wilbur\, exposes a world where hypocrisy preys on innocence\, lust disguises greed\, and one man’s obsession with power tests the bounds of love and loyalty. \nFrench Salon Instructions\n\nExperience starts at 6 PM. Arrive early to drink\, observe\, and eavesdrop like a guest inside a dangerous private salon.\nYour experience includes themed food\, curated drinks\, and exclusive access to the immersive French salon setting.\nLimited seats available.
