SUMMARY:The Inspector General\, A New Adaptation
DESCRIPTION:A backwater town. A corrupt local government. A case of mistaken identity with wildly escalating consequences.\nSavage Wonder resident artist and former U.S. Marine Philip Korth reimagines Nicolai Gogol’s legendary satire in a lean\, kinetic\, actor-driven adaptation for just five performers tackling thirteen roles. With breakneck pace this version of The Inspector General doesn’t just lampoon bureaucratic idiocy and civic rot—it blows it wide open!\nSet in a world that feels both absurdly distant and uncomfortably familiar\, Korth’s adaptation preserves Gogol’s original while amplifying its urgency for a modern audience. Featuring shifting identities\, breakneck role swaps\, and a healthy dose of moral whiplash—told by five actors playing thirteen characters\, with nowhere to hide and everything to expose.\nFeaturing\, \nAna Anderson* \nSabrina Carlier \nSteven Epp* \nDanny Rutigliano* \nAidan J. Lawrence* \n* denotes member of AEA and SAG/AFTRA\nby Phillip Korth \nadapted from the play by Nikolai Gogol \nas translated by Thomas Seltzer \nIf you’ve never experienced a Savage Wonder reading\, you’ve missed pantless performers\, actors in a conjoined-shirt\, and theatrical chaos served with a wink. It is an intimate\, hilarious romp with world-class actors in a gleefully playful space.\nAfter you arrive at 141 Main St\, venture below the sidewalk to “Savage Wonderground” and prepare to be greeted by our delightfully caffeinated crew as we usher you into our theatrical nest.\n*General Seating\, Full Food and Beverage Service. \n*Door opens at 6:00.\n*There will be one intermission.\n  \nSavage Wonder’s programs are made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.\n \nThis project is made possible with funds from the New York State Legislature and administered by Arts Mid-Hudson.
