DESCRIPTION:Savage Wonder presents an evening of live music featuring inventive jazz and reimagined favorites across genres and decades. \nTonight\,\n Pianist-vocalist Laura Evans and her duo transform familiar songs through swing\, funk\, and Latin-inspired jazz arrangements\, blending technical mastery with adventurous musical reinterpretation. \nFeaturing\,\n Laura Evans – Piano and Vocals\n Vince Leggiere – Bass \nAbout Laura Evans\,\n Hudson Valley-based pianist and vocalist Laura Evans studied jazz piano and arranging at Berklee College of Music as a recipient of the Chick Corea Scholarship. She later earned a Master’s Degree in classical piano performance from Brooklyn College\, where she won the Mozart Concerto Competition\, before completing a Ph.D. in contemporary music composition at NYU. Her work as both composer and performer spans jazz\, classical\, and contemporary music\, bringing a distinctly eclectic voice to every performance. \nLaura’s family carries a legacy of military service through both her grandfather\, a career Navy captain\, and her father\, who served as a Navy engineer during World War II.

The depth of their musical partnership (since 2015) is palpable in their live performance. His instructors at the Magnet Theater included Ed Herbstman\, Christian Capozzoli\, and Armando Diaz. Don has conceived\, produced\, and directed groundbreaking shows including Tap\, Rococo Puffs\, The Mask Show\, Bump\, and Feedback. Don also founded a cooperative improv theatre in Brooklyn\, The Commons. In the Hudson Valley\, he has shared and created a flurry of forms\, set the standard for professional improv productions\, and introduced Beacon’s first contemporary long form improv institution\, Prometheus Studios.

Settle in for a midnight mood on a summer Sunday afternoon\, featuring guitarist Ron Gonzalez\, vocalist/bassist Steve Kaiser\, and friends.  \nFeaturing\,\nRon Gonzalez (guitars)\, Steve Kaiser (vocals and acoustic bass)\, Art Lillard (drums) \nAbout Ron Gonzalez\,\nRon Gonzalez is a Hudson Valley-based guitarist specializing in jazz and American popular music. After recording and touring with a major post-punk band in the early 1980s and then over a decade playing jazz music professionally down in NYC\, Ron is back making music here in the Hudson Valley\, with friends Steve Kaiser on bass and vocals\, and longtime bandleader Art Lillard on drums.
